I first met Tonette last spring, when I interviewed her for the American Marriage Ministries’ wedding blog. She’d just officiated her first wedding – a truly epic ceremony for her daughter Beka and daughter-in-law Laura, in a neon-lit cave in northern Virginia. I was charmed from the start by how effortlessly personable and professional she is, and by how important it was to her to make their ceremony everything they’d dreamed about. (I mean, strolling down into the very depths of the earth right after an earthquake to deliver a one-of-a-kind wedding? That's dedication to the dream! Just read the interview, you’ll see.)

Not only is Tonette a natural wedding officiant, she’s also a trained chef and an exceptional baker – she baked custom cookies for her daughter’s wedding reception, along with a custom wedding cake in the brides’ favorite flavors.

"Hi, I’m Tonette M. Lawson—Founder and CEO of TESSERTS, home of the Adult Dinner Cookie. I’m also a licensed officiant, culinary instructor, and someone who understands what it means to live with health challenges.

TESSERTS was born out of my personal journey with autoimmune disease and dietary restrictions, inspiring me to create a line of indulgent, gluten-free cookies that feel sophisticated, satisfying, and just for grown-ups.

TESSERTS Adult Dinner Cookies are handcrafted with love and a bold twist—many are infused with rich, adult flavors like bourbon, whiskey, or savory notes that pair perfectly with dinner, cocktails, and conversation. They’re sweet, savory, and designed for the mature palate.
